How Do You Clean & Cook Spinach

I am a sometime cleaning professional person and a long-time homemaker. I have had many years to learn the tricks of the trade.

Yes, it's really possible to clean your entire house in four hours or less

Yes, it's really possible to clean your entire firm in four hours or less

Cleaning Tips From a Professional Cleaner

You can make clean virtually any house in virtually 4 hours a week. I learned this when I had my own residential house-cleaning business. I reason that cleaning other people'due south houses is a lot easier than cleaning your own, is that you're non involved in the mess. Nothing is personal and you don't get distracted while you're cleaning.

You can make clean your own firm but as efficiently if you lot don't get distracted. You tin can also relieve money instead of hiring a professional firm-cleaning service.

My Vii-Step Method

  1. Ready a cleaning schedule
  2. Get-go cleaning the bathrooms
  3. Change the bedding
  4. Clean ceilings and walls
  5. Cease cleaning the bathrooms
  6. Dust
  7. Vaccum and mop

Learn How to Prioritize Your Cleaning Needs

Household chores similar intensive kitchen cleaning and laundry are amend left for another time as they can distract you from your mission. I assume the dishes are generally washed and counters wiped downward every day.

If y'all are efficient, you can run the dishwasher or washing machine while y'all focus on the tasks at hand. We volition talk nigh some techniques to tackle these chores towards the end. I do suggest including the kitchen when y'all are clearing cobwebs, dusting and cleaning floors.

Cleaning Supplies You Will Demand

Information technology will make your chore simpler if you have quick access to everything you demand. It is a good idea to use a storage caddy or a bucket with a handle so you can conduct your supplies from room to room.

In your cleaning caddy you should have:

  • Sponge (with a scrubby side)
  • Cotton rags (I like cloth diapers or old terrycloth washcloths. Old t shirts make good rags also. If you lot use old towels or wear, cut them upward and then it'due south easy to tell that they have been retired.)
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Paper towels
  • Bathroom cleaner
  • Glass cleaner
  • Furniture polish
  • Rubber gloves
  • Flooring cleaner and/or shine

A Little Advice Near Cloths and Rags

  • Microfiber cloths are very popular, and they are great for some jobs. They work fine for dry dusting, cleaning woodwork, and last polishing. However, they are non very absorbent. Most of the time you volition desire to use them either dry or slightly clammy. They are non proficient for drying dishes, merely they are dandy for rubbing off water spots. If you employ spray cleaner and a microfiber cloth, it volition not dry out the surface very well. In that example you are improve off to use a paper towel or a cotton cloth or rag.
  • Paper towels are practiced for very nasty or greasy messes that will contaminate your sponge or rag, things similar the outside of the toilet. On the height of your stove you can use a paper towel for the initial clean-up and so movement on to a sponge or rag.
  • Long-handled duster
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Broom
  • Dust mop
  • Wet mop

Purchase a Decent Vacuum Cleaner

For years I had problems with vacuum cleaners. I bought one cheap i after the other. It seemed similar I was spending more than time unclogging them than I was vacuuming.

I finally bought myself a Kenmore canister vacuum. I've had it for ten years at present, and it solved near of my problems. Of course, information technology however needs maintenance. As long every bit I empty the bags when needed and make clean the filters it has good suction. The hose finally cracked a couple of years ago, merely I was able to get a replacement on ebay.

I would warn confronting the bagless vacuums, I never had whatsoever luck with those, and emptying the dirt cup is a messy job. Uprights seem appealing and easy to use, but if there's a clog information technology's hard to get to it.

How to Deep-Clean Your House Fast

If the house has non been kept upwardly, you will probably detect a lot of dusty corners that haven't been cleaned in a while the first time you make clean. This is what I found any time I got a new client, no matter how tidy the business firm looked.

Cleaning vs. Clearing Clutter

The kickoff affair to understand is that there's a divergence betwixt clearing clutter and cleaning. A lot of times when we're cleaning our ain houses, we do both at the same time, but this is not the most efficient way.

When a professional cleaner comes in, the house is generally expected to be "picked upwardly." If I would come up in to a house to clean it and there was stuff lying effectually, I would simply make piles for the homeowner to sort out later.

Cleaning to Remove Dust Mites

Information technology'south important to clean more ofttimes throughout the twelvemonth rather than only a little "spring cleaning. "Those untouched areas can harbor dust, mites and other irritants that should be removed regularly for wellness and wellness.

Grit mites can crusade allergies and asthma. They similar to live in fabrics and soft bedding, like mattresses, pillows, carpets, rugs and blankets. This is why weekly cleaning is important.

Pace 1: Fix a Cleaning Schedule or Routine

The fundamental to keeping your house clean is organization and consistency. If you stick to a cleaning schedule and do the entire house each week, you volition probably find that it will accept you less time to do your basic cleaning. Then you can catch upwards on those other tasks that you don't need to do weekly.

Yous might want to go on a running listing of those, so they don't get overlooked. Some of these tasks might include cleaning:

  • the inside of the refrigerator
  • stove
  • oven
  • kitchen cabinets
  • medicine cabinet
  • low-cal fixtures
  • books on book shelves
  • backside and under heavy furniture

Pace 2: Start Cleaning the Bathrooms

The outset matter I exercise is to starting time on all of the bathrooms at once. Remove everything from the tubs and showers and spray them with the bathroom cleaner you adopt and leave them to soak. Practice the same with the toilet bowls. Put the cleaning products in and give them an initial swish with the brush. This is a good time to take a trash bag with you lot and empty all of the waste product baskets.

Step 3: Change the Bedding

Gather the clean sheets and pillowcases y'all will need for all bedrooms. Go to each room, strip the sheets and remake the bed. Gather all the soiled sheets and have them to the laundry room.

It is important to make the beds before dusting the ceilings in the bedrooms. This avoids getting grit under the covers. If the ceiling is particularly dusty, y'all may want to cover the freshly fabricated bed with a sheet while dusting the ceiling.

Stride four: Clean Ceilings and Walls From Meridian to Bottom

While my bath-cleaner products are working in the bathrooms, I start on cobwebs and dust on the ceilings, corners and door jambs, and work methodically effectually each room. Work your way all the way down the walls to the baseboards. A Webster works OK for corners, but I think information technology works improve if y'all encompass it with a fabric—the cloth is just ameliorate at wiping off those sticky webs.

I like to apply a Casabella Everywhere Duster for the walls and ceiling. This is a better culling than your standard feather duster because information technology's made of microfiber and it's washable. If you don't have one, yous might try your favorite microfiber mop. Before they were available, I used to apply a broom with an old towel tied over it to sweep the ceiling. Clean light fixtures and fan blades while you're doing this.

When to Clean Light Fixtures

If you accept light fixtures that are really dirty or full of bugs, yous won't be able to take them all down and launder them within your four-hr time period. For that type of job, you can do one or two of them a week until they're all caught up.

A good manner to clean glass shades on a light fixture is the dishwasher. Information technology is easier and more than thorough than washing them by hand.

Pace 5: Stop Cleaning the Bathrooms

By the time y'all've removed all the webs and dust, you lot're gear up to finish the bathrooms. I used to employ a broom to scrub tubs and showers, but now Mr. Make clean makes a overnice tool for cleaning the bathroom. It is chosen the Magic Reach. It does a adept job of scrubbing and you can reach the whole shower easily without throwing your dorsum out.

When y'all are through cleaning, put all the shampoos and things back in the shower and practise the vanity and mirror, scrub the sink and polish all the fixtures.

Clean the Toilet Bowl

At present you are fix to finish cleaning the toilet bowls. Don't forget the rubber gloves for that job. I use a pocket-sized wastebasket with a bleach solution in information technology to disinfect the toilet bowl brush after use. Paper towels are expert for wiping the outside of the toilet and the seat to avoid contaminating other cleaning cloths with bacteria.

Make clean the Bathroom Floor

Make clean the flooring last. I find it easier and more than thorough to clean the bathroom floor with a rag instead of a mop.

Some Advice Almost Cleaning Cloths

I go along some quondam cotton wool rags for jobs like cleaning the bathroom floor. Once the job is done, those rags go direct into the washing machine. Quondam t shirts and towels brand great rags. Cloth diapers also brand excellent cleaning rags.

Microfiber cloths are great for dusting, and cleaning the fronts of cabinets, door jams, window sills and light switch plates. They are also dandy for polishing chrome kitchen and bathroom fixtures, but they are non very absorbent.

The Best Mode to Clean Your Shower Curtain

If your shower curtain has mildew, you can wash it in warm water on the gentle cycle and hang it dorsum in the shower to dry.

Step half-dozen: How to Dust Your House

Now that the hard part is done, y'all're ready to start dusting.

  1. Furniture: Starting at the top and remove all small items from the shelves and tabular array tops. Polish woods surfaces with whatever oil or wax you prefer.
  2. Lamps: If the lamp shade is covered in textile, remove it and set it aside to exist vacuumed. Wipe off the lamp itself and lift it to grit underneath.
  3. Knick Knacks: Wipe each detail from the shelves and coffee tables down before putting them dorsum. You lot'll want to use a separate rag with Windex or something like for dusting those items, and so they don't go smeared with oil or wax.

How to Clean Books on Shelves

Thoroughly dusting books on shelves are another one of those jobs that you can take on in one case every few weeks. Y'all can dust the shelves and fronts and tops of the books each calendar week, but occasionally information technology's proficient to take all the books off the shelf and dust each one.

Step seven: Vacuum and Mop Floors

When all of the dusting is washed, you're ready to vacuum. Vacuum in this order:

  1. Lamp shades: Vacuum the lamp shades and put them back in place.
  2. Furniture: Upholstered furniture should be vacuumed each calendar week as well.
  3. Floor corners: Use the corner tool first to get the edges and corners of the floor. So move on to the rugs and carpets.
  4. Difficult floors: Clean the hard floors. I use my canister vacuum cleaner for that job, simply if you have an upright vacuum, you may want to sweep.

If the linoleum or tile floors are really dirty with stuck-on dirt, I employ a roller-head sponge mop and saucepan. If they are only moderately dirty, I use a slightly damp microfiber mop. It works really well. If in that location's a difficult spot, you can employ a damp textile past hand. For hard woods or laminate floor, follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning.

Laundry Tips

If you are an efficient person, you tin can consider running your washing machine while you clean your house. This might brand sense if you use your weekend for laundry and deep cleaning. I like to launder occasional loads throughout the week instead of letting laundry pile up.

Remove All Laundry From the Rooms

Before you brainstorm cleaning your bathrooms and bedrooms, remove towels and bedding from these areas as office of the picking up process, this allows y'all to reach all surfaces that would otherwise exist hidden. You can put the bedding and towels straight into the washer.

1 problem with doing laundry while cleaning is that you lot run a risk wrinkled clothing if you don't get to the folding right away. It'south not such a problem with towels and bedding.

I have a hanging rod in a higher place my washer and dryer where I hang shirts right out of the dryer. About shirts volition not need ironing if you do that.

Tips for Doing Your Dishes

If yous are a manus-washer, plug your sink and fill information technology with warm, soapy h2o. Let dirty dishes soak while you lot do other tasks. Later on 10 minutes or then, return to hand-launder and rinse. Place dishes in the dish drainer to air dry or wipe them dry with a dish towel

When letting dishes soak, add a footling baking soda to the dishwater. It helps to break downwardly stubborn food.

For instance, I always get tired of cleaning each footling item on the shelves when doing the full general cleaning. It adds so much more than time to the entire cleaning day. You convinced me information technology's okay to leave that as a job to do by itself. I'grand going to schedule a time to merely have everything off the shelves, wipe the dust off the shelves, and clean the each particular with a damp material. Then consider it done for the day.

C East Clark from Northward Texas on August 11, 2014:

I wish my apartment was so easy to clean! It has been at times, but that was a while agone. Right now I accept so much clutter and things are so disorganized that you can't detect the floors and surfaces to dust or vacuum! Well, most of the apartment is like that anyway.

I've been working on my part for a while and it's most done. Still take my desk to sort and organize and the blinds in the window side by side to my desk-bound to clean, and so I need to bring some things back in that I took out of the room to brand getting to what was left easier. Once it's done your method would very probably work well in the office as in that location should be minimal clutter for the first few weeks at least . . . :)

I love reading articles like this one considering information technology gives me promise that it actually can exist washed. I know it's true that if a person maintains their home once they have it cleaned up, information technology goes much faster and what a deviation information technology makes.

You lot know, considering how things have gotten so out of hand from time to fourth dimension over the years, the i thing that has never, and I do mean NEVER been a trouble are my kitchen cupboards. They are absolutely always clean and organized even when the residual of the firm is a disaster. Even when I had a pantry, that too, was always transport shape. Why simply that ane footling place in the house and everything else looks similar a tornado striking?

Excellent communication here and I similar reading it from someone who has done it for real and knows what she'southward talking about.

Cheers for the votes pagesvoice. How nice for your wife that you clean the firm. I know there has been an ongoing controversy over whether to dust offset or vacuum first. I'm squarely in the dust starting time camp. I think if your vacuum is throwing upward that much grit you need a new vacuum, and often at that place is more than than just dust on the surfaces, and it ends up on the flooring. The Webster is but a round brush on the end of a telescoping pole. There's an Amazon capsule for it in my hub if you desire to check it out. Happy housekeeping.

Voted up, useful and interesting. I love the style you bankrupt down some cleaning tasks that can seem so daunting to many of us. I am curious though about a couple of things. I am clueless what a webster is. The only reason I ask is considering I am the primary cook and bottle washer which, of course, includes cleaning the house. My other question surrounds dusting versus vacuuming. My married woman will start to dust and I ever say "No...look till I'm washed vacuuming because the cleaner throws dust in the air." Now I'chiliad wondering if I accept it backwards. Oh and you are so right about the clutter. I swear the older I have gotten the more than paper piles I have. Alas, it is a never ending battle.

Clutter is a bigger trouble for me. When I figure out how to deal with it I will definitely let you know. It seems simple to just put stuff in a box and get rid of information technology, just if it were that like shooting fish in a barrel it wouldn't exist a problem. I don't know why I become attached to useless stuff. That's a corking idea nigh the video. It's a technology I have not, and then far, embraced.

What is a webster? I googled on it and all the results were Webster dictionaries. If I'k remembering right, long ago back abode my parents had a Webster, merely that was an outdoor charcoal grill.

About clutter, that's the problem with hiring a firm or apartment cleaner -- that you have to tidy all the rooms before the cleaner arrives. Accept you done or will you be doing a hub on efficiently decluttering?

Thanks for reading moonlake. That'due south funny about the drinking glass of water behind the door. Only the people with very tidy houses would exist more than probable to requite it the "white glove treatment."

Very interesting hub. You pretty much clean the way I do. I use to make clean my sister-in-law's house when my youngest son was niggling. They had no kids so information technology was very simple to clean. They use to put a glass of h2o behind the door. I think they were checking to run across if I cleaned behind the door. I e'er looked behind every door where cobwebs similar to build up. I always did my floors by mitt never used a mop at present I have to my knees just can't have it anymore. Voted up on your hub.

Thanks for reading Jeff Adventure. It actually does seem to help me get through information technology a lot quicker. And you can't just stop later on the kickoff one if they've all already been started.

Super cleaning tips Sherry - I like the thought of doing all the bathrooms at in one case, it seems much more efficient.
